NAMESERVERS
Q. Why must I change the nameservers on all my workstations?
A. The nameservers convert Internet names (www.google.com, mary@hotmail.com) to IP addresses. If you don't have a working nameserver IP, you will not be able to access the Internet. Workstations that use DHCP to get the nameservers automatically will not have to be reconfigured, but the DHCP server will.
Q. I am not using your nameservers-- my company uses its own. Do I need to change?
A. Consult with your IT staff: in this case you may not have to make any changes, but your company's nameserver may still have to reflect our new IP addresses.
Q. What are the new nameserver IP addresses?
A.
To create a more diverse and available network infrastructure, we have many new nameservers online and attempt to evenly distribute pairs of these IP addresses to our customers. You will only require two from our DNS server pool, so when you are ready to get the addresses press this button to be assigned a primary and secondary DNS IP address:
Q. How do I change my nameserver IP addresses?

For other devices: Consult your manual
RENUMBERING
Q. Why are you renumbering the network?
A. We have been allocated a large new block of IPs to accomodate our growth. ARIN, the IP assignment authority, is requiring us to return to AT&T the block of IPs we get from them. This means all customers using the AT&T block must be moved to our ARIN-assigned blocks.
Q. How do I know if I am affected?
A. You should have been contacted by P2PA. If the IP block assigned to you by P2PA begins with "66.159", then you are affected. Contact P2PA at renumber@p2pa.com for more information and to plan a cutover.
Q. When is this change taking place?
A. Immediately. The new nameserver addresses are active now, and the new IP block is available for assignment. The sooner you are changed over, the better. Contact P2PA at renumber@p2pa.com for more information and to plan a cutover.
Q. What if I don't change over?
A. Eventually the block will be returned to AT&T in accordance with our agreement with ARIN, and your addresses will cease to work. Renumbering is therefore mandatory. The planned date for termination of the AT&T block is in 2009.
Q. Will I be able to renumber after business hours?
A. You can coordinate with P2PA to effect the change at any time, including nights and weekends. We request two business days' notice to prepare our schedule.
Q. I can't change! My overseas customers/VPN users/vendors/CEO won't allow us to change IPs!
A. P2PA has no control over the decision. The old numbers are going away, and if you do not transition, your connectivity will cease to function. The sooner you begin the transition, the smoother it will go and the more time you will have to coordinate with your affected people.
Q. How do I reach Point-To-Point Access.com to discuss the renumbering?
A. For Nameserver issues, call us at 860-622-4291 or email ops@p2pa.com.
For issues related to network renumbering, please email us at renumber@p2pa.com.
